The strategic partnerships with hospitals have been fundamental to the Company's progress to date
by providing access to patients and vast amounts of medical information and by instilling a culture of
advanced healthcare. These partnerships have promoted clinical development of our products on
an extremely cost efficient basis.
Hartford Hospital, a major New England tertiary care and community health care center serving Connecticut statewide,
is one of the country's leading clinical research hospitals. Its Institute of Living (IOL) has been ranked among the
Top 20 psychiatric hospitals in the country by US News & World Report. Hartford Hospital strategic partnerships,
established in 2004, span cardiovascular and psychotropic drugs and include intellectual property licenses, clinical
studies in preventive cardiology and psychiatry, joint NIH grants, clinical DNA typing, and medical education.
Genomas is located on the Hartford Hospital campus in downtown Hartford and leases 4,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art
laboratory and office space in the first floor of the Florence T. Crane building at 67 Jefferson St. The Hospital
also provides infrastructure, computer and internet services, security, custodial and bio- hazard disposal services
to the Company. The Hospital has consistently recognized the partnership in its communications and media outreach as
"the future of medicine, here today" and as "now tailoring your care to your genetic make-up".
Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care teaching hospital affiliated with the University
of Connecticut School of Medicine and with the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, a world leader in diabetes
treatment, research and education. As a Joslin affiliate, the Hospital develops rigorous standards of diabetes
care and helps patients to manage their disease throughout their lifetime. The strategic partnership, established
in October 2006, includes intellectual property licenses, clinical studies in anti-diabetic drug management and
medical education.
The University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences is entrusted with teaching, research, and service in
the health sciences. At its Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health, Pharmacy, Nursing, and
Allied Health, UPR Medical Sciences is committed to strengthen translational biomedical research
and to advance its clinical application. The partnership, established in January 2008, includes a
memorandum of understanding, clinical studies on the Island to advance personalized healthcare in
Hispanics, medical education, and research mentoring.
Clinical Laboratory Partners (CLP) is a for-profit subsidiary of Hartford Healthcare Corporation, the
holding company for the Hartford Hospital System. CLP is the largest and fastest growing regional
laboratory in Connecticut, operating more than fifty patient service centers throughout the State.
Established in Newington, CT in 1998, CLP serves over one million patients and performs over four
million lab tests per year. CLP has extensive experience with payers and accepts all major insurance
plans. In Connecticut, the HILOmet PhyzioType System developed by Genomas is available through
CLP, which also administers reimbursement for these tests. The success rate for reimbursement of
our HILOmet tests through CLP, which includes Medicare and Medicaid, has been very high.
